Family Love Gesture

Welcome to Attached Psychology

Parenting can bring a love like no other, with some of the most powerful feelings and moments of joy. But what if we are wrestling with our feelings towards our baby/child? What if we don't feel that ‘incredible bond’ that we think we should be feeling? What about the times when our child is struggling and we don't seem able to help? Or when we feel we've lost our connection with them? Parenting can then become one of the hardest challenges we face.

Seeking support can be overwhelming, not knowing where to turn, what might be helpful, or who to ask for what, as well as being faced with huge waiting lists and closed doors.

Attached Psychology understands just how hard it can be. We have the skills, training, and expertise to be able to support your family, striving to better understand the difficulties, to support healing.

We can also work with the wider network, offering training, supervision and consultation to services that may be engaging with families, including but not limited to; social care, education settings, physical health, as well as other mental health and wellbeing services. We understand the pressures and limitations services are working under in the current global climate, and strive to be a service supporting all aspects of a family's journey. Our ethos includes a sense that families thrive when those around them understand them and work together to support them.

"Our history of connectedness is a better predictor of our health than our history of adversity".

“I would rate Jess 'infinity and beyond!'”

Hi, my name is Dr Jessica Cardy. I am a qualified Clinical Psychologist, with extensive experience working with infants, children, parents, and families. Throughout my career I have been struck by how hard it can be to access the right support in a timely way, so I established Attached Psychology with the intention of offering families a clearer, more timely route to evidence-based psychological support. I strongly believe in prevention and early intervention, with my social values being rooted in prioritising the health and wellbeing of babies, children and families. Indeed, I also have extensive experience of working with families at the brink of collapse, and have created a service seeking to support families wherever they currently find themselves. I am passionate about helping children and their families to overcome adversity, to strengthen their resilience, trust, and relationships, working from the position that we are all doing our best in the moments that we are in.

At Attached Psychology we understand just how hard the parenting journey can be, particularly when we see our children struggling or are struggling in our own relationship with them. Attached Psychology offers the skills, training, and expertise to be able to support your family unit, and wider professional network, striving to better understand the difficulties in order that we may support families to heal and move forwards in your relationships.

I have a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from the University of Oxford, and have committed to further training in Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy (DDP), sensorimotor system interventions, non-violent resistance (NVR), as well as being an Intermediate Theraplay® Practitioner. I am registered with the Health and Care Professions Council.

I take huge pride and pleasure in the therapeutic relationships I establish, but don't simply take my word for it.

Support for Professionals.

Attached Psychology is able to offer training, consultation, supervision and reflective practice to professionals. This may be in an individual or group format, in-person or online. It may be a one-off or an ongoing piece of work together.
